    Well, like I said, I'd only be 22 by the time I qualified as a journeyman. Maybe I should keep working as a reserve (if I am accepted) until I'm 24 or so, then apply to be full time.

    Anyway, if in a worst case scenario, I am not hired, or I have health problems to prevent me becoming a police officer, or it doesn't work out, I want to have something to fall back on. Something that pays well. An apprentice electrician doesn't get paid much, so I would need to get past that boundary.

    If I can work as a journeyman for a time, I can save enough money to support myself, and go through the academy on my own cash if necessary.

    Thank you for the skepticism though. It helps me to think this through better, and make a more informed decision.
