As you can see by my tag, I get my fair share of attention. That said, when I am pulled over, I am polite-until the cop involved shows his ***. Even then, I don't respond in kind, but I'm not nearly as polite. I understand that you folks deal with low lifes generally, but that is your choice. Why do so many of you allow the attitude to spill over to those of us who go over the speed limit?
This seems to indicate that you get pulled over often. Also, "shows his ***" in clearly a subjective statement. If it is that bit of a problem where you routinely get pulled over and cops give you attitude, there's one constant in that ratio - you.
It seems that many times when the discussion gets spirited, the conversation becomes my attitude, rather than the minor offense committed. Incidentally, in every case the discussion became spirited because the cop in question came up to me absolutely enraged by my ten over the limit infraction. Having a temper that I control very well, by the way, I still call bull**** when I am shown bull****.
Traffic stops are not "discussions." You clearly do not like being stopped and it seems you like to challenge the authority shown by the officers who are stopping you. THAT's why the contact denigrates. It's our job to write the corrective action we deem necessary for the violation we see. Any "discussion" about it can be done between you and the judge if you disagree.
I understand that you people have a very tough job, not one that I would want at all, but why not show more professionalism, rather than indulging in the ego thing? Guaranteed that your stress level would be a lot lower, and you would get much more cooperation from the civilians that you deal with!
Via the internet, we're not able to judge how you act with officers in your city/area. Of course, if you quit breaking the law, you'll most likely not have more contact with police and that will probably solve your problem. If it bothers you so, go down to your local agency and make an appointment with the Chief, Sheriff etc. and let them know how you feel.
Your anonymous "mini-lecture" on professionalism isn't needed or substantiated.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.
"Wrong door, buddy!"
Let no man's ghost say my training failed him.
