I live on a cul-de-sac in a neighborhood of townhomes (no HOA). Everyone has a two car driveway, but not everyone has a lawn that is adjacent to the curb for additional parking. The cul-de-sac is occasionally used for visitor parking. My neighbor across the way leaves notes on every car that parks in front of her bushes, which line the side of the cul-de-sac. No one ever parks in front of a hydrant, mailbox, or driveway. It is a public street. I have discussed with the local police that it is legal for us to park there. We have given her multiple written requests that she stop putting the notes on the cars. Her notes are merely asking the driver to park in front of the house they are visiting, out of courtesy. This may seem innocent, but these notes are very annoying and causing us great distress. The officer told me that all I can do is to call them out and they will talk with her to mediate. However, he said that she can legally continue to put the notes on the car. Even if the police ask her to stop, I don't think she will. She has been doing this for years. We have had the unfortunate run in with her for just over one year.
If I ask her to stop, and then she continues to do it, isn't that harassment?
What about trespassing? She is putting the notes on our friends' cars, which is their personal property.
I just want her to stop. I really don't think she will stop until she is fined or charges are brought against her.
Any suggestions?
Thank you for your time.
