    Arrest Warrant for Domestic Violence

    Hi,

There's an arrest warrant for my ex boyfriend who was violent with me last Sunday I even have a big bruise on my arm. This happened at my apartment and since he works in another city the police of my city sent it to them. Since he's a soccer coach it seems hard to get him so my question is, how serious do police officers take the arrest warrants for domestic violence? So far the police have been great with me but I don't want to call them everyday. Without we calling, will they try to get my ex every other day or will they forget about it? They said they didn't want him to know about his arrest warrant so they have to be discreet. Also one of the officers know his boss could they ask him when he'll be at work without saying why they need to talk to him?
    Thank you for your help.

Felony or Misdemeanor. What state? Makes a huge difference.

It's in NJ. Now I guess it isn't a felony because he just grabbed me and pushed me around which resulted in a big bruise on my right arm. I just know he has an arrest warrant for domestic violence (assault).

    Me, I like these warrants.

I like to listen to them whine on the way to jail.
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL

Kels, don't get me wrong because I'm pretty shocked of what happened but you made me giggle a bit. I can imagine him TOTALLY whine in the police car saying he didn't do anything wrong, that it's unfair bla bla bla and make things even worse for himself (he's gets angry very easily) I shouldn't feel sorry for him because now I have to wear long sleeves or a jacket at work to hide my big bruise and it was painful the first days. Will he be able to say his side of the story (which I'm sure will be lies) when he's arrested

I am glad I made you smile.

However Domestic Violence is not a joking matter and maybe I made too much light of it.

You beat on your better half, you better have your bags packed when I get there. You are going for a ride. I have no tolerance for this BS. I have a family member who was the victim of this issue for a while and I didnt find out about it for several year after.

    Probably a good thing.

Kansas law has improved since I started. Now the LEO makes the complaint.

Yes that's what happened the LEO did the complaint that's why the arrest warrant was issued that same night. He's a soccer coach who works with children in an academy I wonder how his boss will see this. Also, he's here on a 10 months visa that ends in December and he applied for a 3 year visa I'm not sure how all this will end because if he loses his job he'll probably lose everything and I can't help feeling guilty.:(

Even if the warrant was sent from another county the police try actively to find the one who abused?

Yes, crimes against people warrants are usually followed up pretty regularly, they take a back seat to looking for a shoplifter that never returned to court or crimes against property etc. I cant speak for every state but in NY domestic violence is always considered a priority.

Really thank you all for your help. I'll keep you updated. It has been a week so I hope they'll get him at work this week.

So you were all right. I called the police department of the city where he works and they were very kind with me and said that they've been trying to get him nearly everyday but his work hours change very often.
I want to get finished with this because i do feel very guilty. He abused me just once and because of me he's going to get handcuffed, fingerprinted and taken in photo. I've never been in this position and it's very hard for me to make someone go through this. Did he really deserve this after only one time?
Well something that makes me feel better is that I sent him a photo of my bruise by email last week saying I didn't deserve this and noone does and he totally ignored me.

DV arrest sends him my way. DV conviction under these circumstances sends him home and bans him. Gotta love CIMTs.

Honey, I'm sorry but I don't believe you:(

Victims remorse.............DV doesn't start overnight, it is insidious. My experience leads me to believe that while this may be the first time he bruised you, the emotional and verbal abuse started a long time ago.

It is a learned behavior, can't and won't tell you what to do but............without intervention it only escalates

    Best of luck
