It's possible you may receive another citation. Keep copies of the last cite in your car along with your repair documents once you get it fixed. Worse thing happens is you get another ticket and go to court. You can explain your situation to the judge or hearing officer who may grant you leniency and not fine you.

51 and no previous tickets, a little short on money, even if you don't get another ticket i'd go in and ask for leniency for the first ticket, it seems like you are probbably doing the best you can to keep ends met and just having a little problem, life happens, some hearing officers may understand this whole situation. show respect, be nice, explain the situation, don't get mad if things don't go your way, don't get mad if they start to lecture you, that is often the begining of a 'i'm going to let you off' speech that a lot of people talk their way out of. at this point you may also have missed your window to take care of the ticket without having bigger issues come up, as soon as possible would be the best time to go in and explain this whole thing to a hearing officer, at a minimum they SHOULD allow you to postpone your payment, postponing the payment WITHOUT permission could lead down a road where things get worse than they need to be.

If you were around here (since you didn't say where you were  ), YES you can get ticketed again And EVERY TIME you drive without being current on your registration. If your registration is over 6 months expired, you car can also be towed and you wouldn't be able to get it back until you make the registration current (and you would have to pay the tow yard fees up until that time as well).

    What state are you in????

It is difficult to answer your question without know the jurisdiction's law that applies.

If it were in Virginia, you can safely drive the vehicle to the repair and inspection facility if you have a pre-arranged appointment. Yes, if you are pulled over enroute, the officer will call to verify.

Can you be pulled over again for the expired inspection sticker? Yes

In AZ you can get a 3-day pass for your vehicle so you can legally take it to the mechanic once your registration expires. We do not have inspection stickers here; it falls under the registration part. You can use the pass to get the vehicle repaired and then registered. It is not a pass to keep driving everywhere. Perhaps your state has the same deal.

Listen, if your ticket was a month ago and your Court date has already passed with you doing nothing at all, you may have been tried in your absence and found guilty.

If that is the case, you will need to take some quick action to pay the ticket, or your Drivers License will be suspended form non-payment of the ticket... and your life will get much more complicated and the remedy more expensive.

Among other things that can happen:

DL suspended, a $ fee to get the DL re-instated.

Another stop for the Inspection Sticker ($), being caught driving suspended ($$), and failing to return the suspended DL to the State ($$). In some states, an overnight jail stay is not unheard of for this.

Many states and Jusrisdictions will allow you to pay a fine on time payments, if it came to that.

    Get your ticket rectified today.
