Hello Officers, I have a question for you. I have tried to find out more info, online with no luck.
Sometimes MVD info is hard to find online - no worries.
I have even been to the MVD, and was told they do not know the answer.
No surprise there. ;)
I have an ATV, I want to be able to "street legal" my ATV in AZ. At the time it was purchased, the dealer said to get a street legal kit. I have the kit on it. However, what is the license requirement for riding an ATV on the road? I have cerebral palsy (a minor case) that doesn't allow me to drive a car other than using hand controls because I can't use my feet well enough. I do not have a car with hand controls, so I can't take a driver test to get a car license. Can I get a motorcycle license using my ATV to be legal?
Motorcycle licenses are for motorcycles. To operate a street-legal ATV (basically mirrors, lighting, turn signals and a license plate) on a street you need to have it properly registered (including insurance). You'll also need a Class D license. The Class D license is available with an "F" restriction. F is: "Restricted to driving vehicles equipped with full hand controls". This means any vehicle you operate, including the ATV would have to be operated fully by hand controls. So, no foot brake or no shifting with your foot.
Thanks for the help
Even though you have the answer, it's probably not what you wanted to hear. Basically, no matter what you operate you will need hand controls for. Good luck to you.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.
"Wrong door, buddy!"
Let no man's ghost say my training failed him.
