    Do crime investigators do this?

If there is a kidnap, assault, or murder, do investigators ask Google and Facebook to reveal how many times the victim's name was searched and/or profile viewed? If they find out the victim's name was searched 10 times a day by someone for 5 months, this information could lead to a potential suspect who had an obsession with the victim. The motive could maybe be a revenge hit. They could get the IP address of the suspect and interview him.

    Do investigators do this?

No one here is going to discuss an investigative tactic on an open internet forum.

But we will look at the victim's interactions both on and off line in many cases where it could be useful.

Call up your local police and tell the detectives this. I'm certain you'll start clearing cases for them left and right, seeing as how people who are trained and do the job every day probably don't know what their doing. The mayor will probably give you the Key to the City!

Why? How many times have you searched her name?

No harm in asking, or being curious. There's just some information we can't post in a public forum. Thanks for understanding, as many others get pissy when this site doesn't serve as their personal question genie.
