If there is a kidnap, assault, or murder, do investigators ask Google and Facebook to reveal how many times the victim's name was searched and/or profile viewed? If they find out the victim's name was searched 10 times a day by someone for 5 months, this information could lead to a potential suspect who had an obsession with the victim. The motive could maybe be a revenge hit. They could get the IP address of the suspect and interview him.
Do investigators do this?
