Unhappy Use of a baby monitor...

    Hi,

I am a single parent and I am moving into my 1st apartment with no roommate next week. The apartment complex that I am moving in to has a gym that is located in the same building as my apartment. My question is, if I purchase a 2.4GHz (1500 ft range) baby monitor, would it be legal for me to go down to the gym after my son is sleeping at night? I know that sounds terrible and I would never want to do anything that would place my son in danger, but I can not afford a gym membership, even though they only charge $2 to watch your child while you work out. I just really need to get back in shape, I feel that my health is being affected by my weight. I would try taking him to the gym with me, but I know my son, he would find some way to hurt himself and I am afraid I would loose track of him. He is three years old and frighteningly intelligent, he will find a way to get into trouble if he is awake. If this is something that I can not do, I would appreciate any other ideas. I feel unhealthy right now and I want to know how I can fix it on a limited income with a child.

Thank you for your input and time,
    Christine:confused:

He is three years old. The short, abrupt answer is that it would constitute Child Neglect here in Arizona, which is a felony.

Sorry it's not better news for you.
Of every one hundred men, ten should not even be here. Eighty are nothing but targets. Nine are real fighters, and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Ah, but the One... One of them is a Warrior... He will bring the others back.

    "Wrong door, buddy!"

Read your post and ask yourself if it sounds like a good idea.

There are a million things that could happen. Like the power going out, apartment fills with smoke (you wouldn't hear it), baby monitor breaks down, interference doesn't allow you to hear what is going on.

Perhaps consider purchasing a pack and play for your son to be in while you work out. You can find them new, buy at a second hand like Goodwill, or a consignment store that has kid's stuff. Get him some toys or colouring books or whatever to keep him entertained.
