Admitting to Breaking the law, online

    Hello Officers

I am a part of a car enthusiast forum where there are several memebers whom openly admit to breaking several automotive ordinances. For example, tinting their windshields (in states where it is prohibited), removing catalytic converters, street racing etc. Often they also post pictures of their offenses.

Are these people subject to any ramafacations for their actions? Are the owners of the website liable for allowing these threads to exist in their forums?

    Thanks in advance!

    I see...
Are these people subject to any ramafacations for their actions?
Only if a law where they live prohibits those modifications or driving behaviors.
Are the owners of the website liable for allowing these threads to exist in their forums?
    No.
    Thanks in advance!
    You're welcome!

    Thanks for your reply!

To my knowledge their are only 2 states that allow any sort of tint below the ASI line. These people are not in those states.

What are the next steps in addressing these people.

    Possibly/probably.

Ignore them. Local law enforcement will catch up with them eventually.

Wouldn't it help to toss local law enforcement a bone? These guys have publicly posted pictures of the offense with plate numbers visible?

You could if you REALLY wanted to, but wouldn't you think local cops have more important things to track down than vehicles that have their tint too low?

If it were a matter of tint simply too low, my hackles wouldnt be up about it. Its the fact that they have their ENTIRE windshield tinted, not just the visor.

I still stand by my previous statement. You are more than welcome to email a local PD where that person lives at, but I doubt you'll get a response from them. If it were that big of a deal to that department, I would guess they would have pulled the person over already WITHOUT a complaint from a non-citizen.
