    Passing on onramp

Each day I see this and I ask myself, "that can't be legal, can it?"

The main lanes of freeway traffic slow due to congestion and when it does, people start using onramp lanes as passing lanes. They move from the right lane on to the onramp to pass x number of cars ahead of them, only to then merge farther ahead "in the line" of cars. This action only increases the time that people behind them have to wait as the passer merges, usually forcing their way into the line at the last possible moment as the onramp ends.

So, is any part of this illegal?

    Thanks!

Not legal in PA. And I suspect it is the same everywhere.

Not legal here either (Florida), it would either be improper lane change, or possibly improper passing. Depends on what I saw them do, and how they impact other traffic. (Probably not using turn signals either - which would also be a charge)

    Very common down here too.
This isn't Burger King, you are not going to get it your way.

    I think it's common everywhere.

That's why I just don't let them back in in front of me.
