Samuel, Thanks for all your help, I will look into these. As i Said, there is a place in town here that is offering 2 weeks of free training in something called Pukang Tang Soo Do. I'll give that a shot and see what its all about, and maybe I'll learn more once i go through it. Thank you.

talked to a buddy of mine here at school. He mentioned that he wrestled 4 yrs Varsity in high school, and is now a wrestling coach at the local Middle School. He offered to show me some things if I am interested....

basically, worth it? Or a waste of time? I took the offer, and plan to meet up at his open gyms when the kids practice...thoughts on that?

Ferris, every MA (including wrestling) has Something to offer. Some more than others. Take the opportunity to train with your friend! You may pick up a technique or two and add them to your favorites. Even if you don't, you can at least see what wrestlers like to do and will be a little more familiar with those techniques (know what is coming, devise counters, etc).

In my experience, here are some pros and cons for wrestling (high school/collegiate type) (with no crosstraining).

    Pro
Builds strength, coordination, "base", quickness, endurance, footwork, etc - wrestling workouts are some of The Best PT around!
    excellent drills
    Teaches takedowns and body mechanics
great background for further grappling study - doesn't take much for a wrestler to make the transition to submission grappling
"live" type training - when you wrestle, you are working hard against the efforts of a realistic opponent

    Cons
"sport" oriented (not street, no dirty techniques)
wrestlers are trained to give up their backs
very few offensive submission techniques - also not used to having submission techniques applied against
"making weight" is very hard on your body
basically covers just one range of fighting (and only partially at that)

Oh, and watch out for cauliflower ear and ringworm...
