This is going to be a long post to provide you with enough information so you can help, I hope someone on here can help me resolve this matter.
The other day I got a notice in the mail saying my GA license has expired and that I will need to come in to the DMV to renew my license. This letter also advised me if I did not come in by a certain date I would need to take the drivers test in order to obtain a new drivers license.
A few day's later I get my butt to the DMV to get my drivers license renewed, this is when I discovered that I will not be able to renew my drivers license do to the State of NJ suspended my drivers license because of a unpaid ticket that I was "supposed" to have gotten on June 29 1983.
I ask where was I given the ticket in NJ, Ga said I will have to call NJ to get that information and that there is nothing they can do to help me. GA told me they only are able to see who suspended my license but not able to see the ticket or access to any information about the NJ ticket.
I get home and call NJ, come to find out I was supposed to be given a ticket on June 29, 1983, somehow I was driving a white 1987 tro, which no one in NJ knows what that is and had a tag number of 377-tzj, the funny thing is that I never owned a white car and do not remember that tag number at all, I also do not ever remember being in East Orange in my life or being stopped by the police.
The violation number given to "me" on that date was W00027110 and was for 39-310.
I have been trying to work with the state of NJ over the phone but I can't for the life of me seem to get anyone to help me.
I asked NJ how can I be driving a 1987 car in 1983, I said something is wrong here, NJ has no answer for it or what the TRO is and keep passing the buck. I feel like I am getting nowhere and need the ability to drive.
I called my local police department and told a officer the story and asked if it was ok for me to drive, the officer ( I talked with the patrol captain somehow ) told me no and that if I was to drive anywhere and got stopped I will be taken to jail, so it feels like I'm on house arrest and I did nothing wrong.
I can't get GA or NJ to help me resolve this matter.
Can anyone on here help?
Thanks
**ADD ON**
I have called my state rep, and US Rep., the State rep has been more helpful then the US rep was, but no matter who I call I get the feeling that I'm stuck in the mud spinning my wheels.

Now I'll have to admit, it sucks going through this, but this quote from you is very, very funny. Just wait until we get Government run health care. They will run with the same efficiency as the BMV.
If you want my opinion, if you can't get anywhere with the BMV, contact your local US Congress Rep. Don't call your state rep, make sure it's your US Rep. They may be able to get something done for you.
I finally got a call back from NJ today:eek: after a week of trying to get this resolved.
The woman on the phone said they will take care of the ticket over the phone if I'm willing to pay a 500.00 fine.
I said sure why not, I asked what choice do I have anyway seeing if I fight it it's going to coast more than that seeing how I will need to buy: a ID car to board a airline, get a round trip airline ticket, hotel room, food and get to point A & B via taxi's.
She asked me to hold on so she could get someone on the phone who could take the payment, a man comes on the phone and is ready to take a payment, we go over the payment options and I ask him to explain to me how do I drive a 1987 car in 1983, he was lost as to what I meant so I explained it to him, he asks me to hold on and about 15 minutes later he comes back on the phone and tells me the ticket is taken care of and I don't owe a dime, he explained how it will take a week for the ticket to drop off my record and said if I have any troubles to call him back.
I hope this is the end of my troubles with this issue, man has it been a stressful week.
Now if I only can find a job I will be in better shape.

If for some reason things still don't get worked out, contact an attorney in the jurisdiction the ticket was issued. That way you could take the ticket to court (which would obviously been dismissed), and not have to make a trip to New Jersey. That's what I would have done in the first place as soon as I started getting the runaround.

Big Sexy need just have a passing thought about it, and it automatically corrects itself.
Do not doubt the power of the Big again, lest ye be smited.
Glad to see there are some here, who recognize BIG capabilities. For that reason, if you look outside your windows. The men in dark suits & black helicopters are no longer there.
Enjoy the sunshine gentlemen, enjoy the sunshine.

Thanks for that post, I did not even thought of that, sometimes I am slow.
I like the out come for now and think it was for the right price, 0.00, attorneys fees would have cost me 100s.
I still doubt I was ever given a ticket. I don't know what happened.

I owe BIG a Double THANKS!
Thanks for your help with the ticket, and thanks for getting rid of the annoying men in dark suits and that back helicopter, I thought they would never leave.

I'm glad things worked out. After reading your first post I was going to ask you how it was possible to get a ticket in a 1987 car back in 1983.
Don't you just love how fast they can fix things when they want too? Several years back I had a problem with the city I used to live in. They claimed I never shut off my water/garbage service when I moved out. We went round and round and I finally got a supervisor on the line..she was adament that I had to pay the $65. Then it was like the little light bulb went on and I told her if she could answer 1 question I would drive over as soon as we got off the phone and pay. She said OK whats the question? I asked her if I never shut off the service to my old rental house how did they get my new address? The bill was mailed directly to me not forwared by the post office.
She was like, " I don't know..there is no way for us to get your new address unless you gave it to us":rolleyes:. 2 minutes later she told me everything was taken care of & my account was closed.
I get a letter in the mail today from the GA DMV saying that my DL his been revoked and that I am required to surrender it.
I guess I will be making a trip up to NJ.
They probably sent that letter before you talked to NJ. Call the DMV, see if they can hold off on the revocation or if there is a way to appeal it. Cause they might charge a reinstatement fee. GA DMV is weird cause it is a private company that does their license.
Disclaimer- I'm not a GA officer, but I do work for a border city next to GA and this is based on my dealings with GA drivers license.

When they were teaching me how to use NCIC a long time ago, they had me run my own license plate so I could see where all the information was printed. I ran my plate and it came up as stolen. (slightly embarrassing)
I called the county who had my plate entered as stolen, explained to them my plate was never stolen and they entered the wrong number. Their response.....drive on over here and we'll get it taken care of. The dispatcher was really crappy to me over the phone.
So let me get this straight, you want me to drive an hour away in a car with license plates that are in the computer as stolen? Luckily, my Sgt got on the phone and called a uniform over there to get it taken care of. Scary to think how often that could happen though.
