I just got back ( tired of the phone) from the Georgia DMV and got things worked out on this end somewhat, they still need NJ to send them a letter with the state seal signed by a judge or who ever before they release my license.

I can't believe the guy in NJ actually gave me his direct number and that I got him on the first try while at the DMV.

Why is a e mail or fax not good enough to get this over and done with?

too easy to forge thats why it is done by mail.
Why is it that all these jerkoffs seem to know about the right to remain silent, but I have yet to find one of them to actually exercise that right. -Legoate

I can not believe what came in the mail today, I almost fell off my feet when I noticed the envelope from the state of NJ.:D

I don't know how it got here so fast but I am very glad it did, the guy helping me in NJ is great, I wish I found him sooner so I could have gone through less stress.

Tomorrow I will go to the GA DMV and renew my DL, I'm almost done and have a little more stress to deal with, then it's back to the normal everyday stress for me, until the next event that is.

Might I suggest sending a nice thank you to his supervisor. Lot cheaper than the $500 you were about to cough up before this guy got involved and from personal experience, I always love a simple thank you card for a job well done.

Glad to hear it sounds like it is finally getting sorted out in your favour.

Your story reminds me of a news story over here a while back.

A woman got a speed camera fine for doing something ridiculous like 170km/hr in her car. Her car was something like this Datsun 180 B but in not as good condition (it was a rust bucket pile of doo doo):

She appealed the ticket on the basis that the car could not go that fast. She got no luck.

She then went to one of the main current affairs tv programs. They took her car to a speedway track and got a professional race driver to see how fast he could get it around an oval banked track. Max speed was about 110.

I still remember the quote from the driver: "The only way you could get that car to do that speed would be if you pushed it out of a large plane."

The lady got her ticket dismissed in the end. :D

Great minds think alike. I typed a nice thank you letter to him and got him a nice thank you card on the way back home from the GA DMV, I also mailed it.

The card was perfect for this situation, all it says is THANK YOU!, it's all over then inside and outside of the card, I hope he appreciates it and it gets him some good points with his bosses.

The Georgia DMV is pretty easy to deal with, I was in an out with my new 10 year DL with in an hour.

    What a Mess!

Ditto on the government run health care comment!
You are in NJ Bureaucratic Hell!
Don't go back to GA until you get a clean bill of DL health from NJ. You will only find yourself in GA bureaucratic hell. Your legislators and congressmen can not help you with this but the guy in NJ can, lets call him "good guy" Frank. Find out who Frank's supervisor is and call him and file an official commendation for Frank. Wait a week or so and then call Frank back and tell him you are still having trouble with GA and have him send you something official from NJ that you can show to GA clearing your record. Then go get your GA DL and send Frank a case of his favorite lager.

You could also hire an attorney who specializes in DL matters and pay him to get this straightened out for you. Look for the sleaziest but best DUI lawyer you can find and get you checkbook ready.
