Does anyone know about the legality of internet gambling? I've done some searching on the internet and have gotten some conflicting answers, none of which seem to be up to date. I live in the state of Illinois, but I don't know if the normal state rules prohibiting sports betting apply to internet use. If legal, I would be betting on MLB games. I was referred to Sportsbook - TheGreek Sports Book - Sports Betting, Online Casino, Online Poker, Online Sportsbook which claims to be a "legal" site for internet gambling, but I don't intend on taking their word for it.
I do aspire to be a LEO in the future, so I want to keep my conscious, integrity, and record clean. Anyone educated on this matter, specifically for Illinois, please share your opinion on this. Thanks.
Internet gambling is probably illegal. These companies are usually run out of countries like costa rica, etc, where US laws can't touch them. Just because they're outside of our country, doesn't mean you can't lose money though.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.
Politically, I am a conservative. So what I do with my money should be up to me. So, if I want to chance my money with a company and lose it then I should be able to do it. However, if I win, I need to pay my fair share of taxes (unfortunately). The problem is since these companies are out of country the government has no jurisdiction to demand a look at the books, which in turn means that they cannot tell if you won, which means they don't know if you should be paying some taxes on your winnings.
The reason I don't do it, is because I suck at gambling. But with my Irish luck, I would go to one of these sites, win a couple million and then Uncle Sam will come and take me away and my money, too.
