    P.o.s.t.

I am looking into a second career and will probably need to be P.O.S.T. certified for the position in which I am seeking. I wanted to know if a couple of minor misdemeanors would keep me from achieving certification. About 24 or 25 years ago when I was about 19 or 20 I got into a little scuffle and the case was dismissed and also I wrote a small check to a grocery store that bounced, as I was not good with keeping my check book register up to date, so I went to court and paid the check off to the grocery store and that was the end of that. I am not a felon and I do have a firearm license. Does anyone know if I can obtain the certification?

You will probably be able to be POST certified, once you complete training and pass the test.

But remember that getting the certification is not the same as getting the job.

A siginficant passage of times heals many wounds. Your ( hopefully) good life choices that you have made over the last 1/4 century should do a decent job of showing that what you did that long ago is not who you are today.

That and unless considered a crime of violence , should not have any lasting effects. It really depends on what you were charged with and what the end result was. Result meaning conviction , dismissal, probation etc.
