Here's an idea, EP. Why don't you tell us a little about yourself-- where you're from, what you do for a living, stuff like that, what makes you so interested in police procedure and the law, and see if that sparks some interesting discussion?

Phantasm - Hypothetically speaking then, say someone refused. I assume that means they'd be held until their trial date. If at that time they were exonerated, would they go back in the hoosegow until they "volunteered."

How do they get a trial date? If you can't finish the booking process you can't file the charges.

Hypothetically speaking I'd say that the person would get close to 48 hours to volunteer their prints, they have to see the magistrate before 48 hours. So about the 45 hour mark they’d have their prints taken the hard way.

I love when people tell me I can't take their prints after I have told them I will do so. It is amazing how many of them back down and allow me to take them when I get this wall of blue to help me do it by force. In fact, I can't think of a single instance where I have needed other people help me after this visual response.

Citicop - I think you misunderstand me. I've not been advocating fighting over fingerprints. And I'm certainly making no claims of superior intelligence. Surely when you print people you think about the implications.

retdetsgt - It's some what comforting to know that fingerprints can be expunged, but only somewhat. Knowing how greedy database administrators are for data, I doubt an expunge order gets them erased so much "set aside" somewhere in the database that most people can't get to.

I think you should take some time off, spend it with your wife, your kids, your friends. Go fishing, whatever. I think it would be good for you.

Sierra - Sounds like the threat is usually enough. I like when things can be resolved without violence. How far would you be willing to take it if the threat wasn't enough though?

I can not remember EasternPromises contributing anything entertaining in the least bit to this forum. Why does everything with him have to seem like some thought provoking question? Why can't he just make fun of Norm every now and then like the rest of us?
