Do you or any fellow officers you know work the roadway construction for OT

hopefully im not confusing anybody, but for example when they are doing construction on highways at night and they have parts blocked off, they usually have an off duty officer standing by with lights flashing to warn people as they approach, or atleast thats how it works where I am. I was wondering does any of the officers do that for OT, and if so how do you like it

a friend of mine was thinking about getting into that which is why he is thinking about buying a truck, more than likely a f-150 because he was told that for safety and other reasons they like for the off duty officers to have either a p/u or a suv, and that is what i noticed majority of the time. He already has the light bars to put up in his vehicle to use

That is done by State Police here, and they use their cruiser, NOT a pov. Can't even imagine using a personal vehicle for that because of departmental liability.
