The reason I was not able to drive is this is a new car and she would not let me drive it, I would say with confidence that if she was arrested for having no DL she still would not let me drive it, I bet she would ask the car be parked until her husband got there.
How are we supposed to tell if someone is telling the truth or just blowing smoke? Just by looking at someone? You tell the truth by verifying the story. In this case running checks to make sure your sister had a current & valid DL.

The car would not be parked until the husband got there. It would be towed. And no your sister wouldn't have any thing to say about that. Maybe, if the officer was in a good mood, he would have let you drive it home but he sure wouldn't park the car and wait for her husband to arrive. And he's not going to leave it because if he arrested her then the PD becomes responsible for the vehicle, thus towing the vehicle and all the fees that would go with trying to get it back.
    Wrong door, buddy

    Ditto the Tow, here.

No Agency worth its Accreditation would assume liability for the vehicle to be parked on the side of the road.

As a matter of fact, I've heard that some Agencies are being sued because they parked surplus vehicles in medians to slow traffic down, thus making the parked Police Cruiser an "Abandoned Vehicle" and the Agency liable if it is somehow struck in an accident by a vehicle that would have otherwise suffered little damage by running off of the road into the median.
