    Need some help

I am a 16 year old highschool student and i am at a crossroad in my life. I have to pick my future career and i am seriously considering being a police officer. I have went to and drank alchohal at parties since grade nine, smoked pot and on one ocassion took ecstasy. I have read many other posts about how doing any drugs harder than marijuana will dq you, so please dont just say " you did drugs you cant be a cop". I want to know what are my chances of getting accepted. I realize that it was a big mistake, and i cant change it. I am a honour roll student and i don't want to go to college for law and waste my time and money, only to get turned down. Thanks

The Ecstasy will be a DQ in every agency I am aware of.

You can't be a cop. You did drugs.

Your past actions have an effect on your future choices. Pick a new career.

Okay... if you've read what has been posted here before and realize what our responses will likely be, why do you think the rules don't apply to you? If you expect someone here to pour pixie dust on you and undo any prior drug use you did, that's not reality.

Different departments have different standards. Some are more forgiving than others, but if you smoked a lot of pot and did harder drugs (even once), you may have killed your chances with many departments. That's just a fact of life, and no one here can make that any different from you, honor student or not.

Honor roll students dont spell honor HONOUR. Your chances are slim to none.

Okay thanks. And by the way, I could fail English and still be an honor student. And you must all be stuck up Americans, honour can be spelled either way. Just remembered that ;)

So you cant spell, you make a blanket statement that cops are dicks, think Americans are stuck up, and you used drugs.... Yes, I'd say you are a perfect police applicant. Sign up online at my department's website please.

The problem here is that you did a hallucinogenic drug. Some of these types of drugs (most notoriously LSD) can cause flashbacks unexpectedly for the rest of one's life. Some never experience one, some experience them infrequently, and some quite often. They come on suddenly and cannot be predicted. That is why in your case you would be an auto-DQ. We can't have someone working beside us who could have a flashback at any given time and cause some real damage, presenting an unacceptable liability to the department.

Science and medicine have not yet determined all of the drugs that can cause flashbacks. However, the ones they know cause them are all hallucinogenic in nature. There's too much of an unknown in terms of safety and liability. You'll have to find another career.

That was a polite reply to someone called me (because I *AM* a cop) a "****". If you think we're all "dicks", why do you want to be one of us?
