I was watching an episode of SWAT Dallas #26 today.

Here is the problem I see with this method:
I have seen many of these raids aired on TV and the internet where there are children present. What happens to little Timmy if he happens to be standing on the other side of the door when an Explosive Breach Device is used?

Here are the problems I see with your question:

1. You watch too much TV and have no real LE info/experience
2. Tactics and officer safety will not be discussed in an open forum here
3. "Poorly phrased" (i.e. stupid) question anyway

So what you are really trying to say is that you basically have no answer to this ethical question. No where in my first post did I ask a question about "Tactics" or "Officer Safety". Perhaps I should have elaborated more in the first post. Forgot who I was talking to :(

Here is my rephrased question, maybe you can follow along, and maybe not.

I was referring to INNOCENT CHILDREN that are present on a NO KNOCK WARRANT and a fine and outstanding officer is holding the trigger to an EXPLOSIVE BREACH DEVICE, said officer pulls trigger just as little Timmy or little Susie is reaching out to either lock, unlock, or open the door, depending on what their drug crazed parents taught them to do. Device goes BOOM, and INNOCENT CHILD is now DEAD.

So here it is: If you just happen to be that outstanding officer, and you pull that trigger (I hope you have little child(ren)) are you willing to kill an unknown on the other side of that door? I could care less if it is the target suspect that gets hit with the device, but when blind firing a device of this caliber, you really do not know what is on the other side, little Timmy?

This is a question of responsible ethics in the Protect and Serve community.
Not only is it your JOB to bring down the "bad guys" but to also protect the "bad guys" children.

I am not trying to stir up a problem here, I was hoping for different opinions from different officers in different parts of the country. Sort of a consensus.

I have seen on this forum more than once, "We cops are human too".

Should the police use such devices in residential areas?

And no, I really don't watch alot of TV, it rots the brain. I just happened to catch that episode of SWAT on Hulu. And besides, are you trying to insinuate that the cop shows that are aired, are all staged? heh

There is a protocol that is used and some techniques may not be allowed when certain circumstances are present. You have to have an understanding on how the breach works to know its hazards, results and effectiveness.

If Timmy gets injured or killed, Timmy's parents are held legally responsible for neligence as they were responsible for placing Timmy in a dangerous situation. Then Timmy's parents sue the Police because a municipality has more money than Timmy's parents and the Police have no reason to sue Timmy's parents for being retarded. The Attorney's get involved and they decide that it's easier to settle out of court than go through the expense of a trial so Timmy's parents make off with a cool $100 grand out court for being crappy parents. Timmy's parents continue to sell drugs until eventually Timmy grows up and takes over the family business. Timmy is arrested by Dallas PD Swat 15 years later on multiple felonies and drug charges. Timmy is later sentenced to 15-20 years in prison. So you get to pay for Timmy's education, housing, and meals all because Timmy's parents raised him to be a retard.

I didn't look at it from that angle.

So maybe the solution is social reform at the local level.
Most people are products of their environment, change the environment, change the people.
Little Timmy did not ask to be raised as a retard. So lets kill him now before he becomes a problem later. Now there's a motto to live by!

So far in the RP forums, I have found nothing but unintelligent comments to "Citizens" posts. Officer to Officer, or Officer to potential Officer comments seem to be "Nicely" worded and intelligent responses.
Let someone like me ask a question or spark up a discussion, I get slammed on by some ****.
