    Getting Anxious.

Hey quick question for you LEO's. I turn 20 this April, at which time I'm eligible for hire off the list for the county. Scored an 85, not bad nor awesome. My question is if I apply part time on my own somewhere and get accepted and pay my own way through academy, what happens if say two months into it a PD calls me up and wants to sponsor me full time? Would they reimburse me for academy tuition? And would I be allowed to even take the job since I already started academy for another PD?

Ha yes Pac. Thanks for the advice. Full time jobs are hard to come by these days, it'd never be my intent to burn a bridge but it'd make more sense to take a full time if it opened up to me. All this is wishful thinking though, I'll see what happens..

Your not going to get reimbured. Your also going to find it difficult to find an agency to sponsor you for the academy. You need to be sponsored to complete phase II of the academies around here.

How does DCSO's part timers get sponsored to complete phase two if they pay their own way?

DCSO sponsors those cadets and assigns them as part time through the entire academy. They are in a hiring freeze and I wouldnt expect that to occur much longer. Also if you get on there part time, you'll be lucky to get 4 hours a week, if not 4 hours every other week.

In all honesty I'd be okay with four hours a month. I just want to get started you know? I'm in it for the job not the money.

Plus I hear you can ride unpaid as a part timer on shifts you're not scheduled, which I'd do as often as possible if its true.
