    self defense question

If I or someone else were in a public place like a bar and some guy or guys came up to me and started a fight for no reason and I was forced to strike them to protect myself would i go to jail along with the people who started the fight if there were enough evidence or witnesses that said i was just protecting myslef by striking them.

Depends. You might get off scot free and you might get jailed on felony charges...

    +1

Over the years I've noticed that most people can go their entire lives w/o facing that situation. Then others find themselves "defending" themselves once a month or so....
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

My rule of thumb on this has always been to plan on going to jail.

If it still seems worth it, then it's probably a legitimate self defense situation. If it's not worth going to jail over, then leave it alone.

The last time I got involved in a physical confrontation, other then while working, where I hit someone, was in high school.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.
