If someone found a stash of their husband's/roommate's drugs in their home. Can they call the police to turn them in and not get charged with possession themselves?

So, the person calling won't get charged but the husband/roommate, owner of the drugs, will?

Thanks

My answer would be, "It depends."
It is very unlikely you would be arrested for calling the police to your home to turn over some drugs you say you found. If you did wind up being arrested in this matter it would certainly not be simply for that.
It is also unlikely that your roommate would be arrested if the sole evidence against him/her was that you handed the cops a baggie of drugs and told them you found it in his/her room.
Cogito ergo summopere periculosus.
Fiat justitia, ruat coelum.
I've also had someone claim that the pot I found in their car was originally their roommate's and that they were simply bringing it to the police station to turn it in.
Me: "The joint in plain view in the ashtray and the ounce of weed in the tennis shoe in trunk were both your roommate's? Really? Wow, you are unlucky tonight, aren't you."

Those are also obviously correct answers. Don't expect the responding officers to tote your husband/roommate off to jail. If it were me responding, I'd be more than happy to confiscate the pot and log it as evidence, and I'd take your WRITTEN statement. Depending on the circumstances, I seriously doubt I'd be taking anyone to jail or filing any charges. I'd let the investigators take it from there.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

So how long have you known about the drugs ?

I've suspected my husband has been using for a while but never had evidence and discovered them last night. I have young kids who I'm terrified of finding them and getting into them. I don't want them in my house, I have to protect my kids.
Easy answer would be to just flush everything you found. Then have a talk with your husband about his problem.
