Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the presence of justice.
My new hero!
Don't do what I did. While working as a reserve, I dropped out of Junior College to take a full-time job as a Deputy. Now after being medically retired for several years, I'm back in school getting my general ED done so I can pick a major and transfer. In fact, I should be studying right now.

HS grad at age 17. Went almost directly into the USAF , Security Police. Took a few classes here and there but nothing ever formal enough to be called a degree.
Hired at age 25 as a PO. Probably have enough credits in the last 23 years with all of the training that I have but it is way too spread out to try to even make something out of it.

Back in the good old days when the feds paid for police officers to go to college. If you worked full time for two years after completion you met conditions for the grant. :D

Can't Stand Idiots
Went to college after high school and attempted to get a degree in computer program, but couldn't catch onto the school work. Was going broke and I knew I needed a job that I could enjoy, paid a steady income, and something that wasn't going to bankrupt me even further.
Academy was open to applicants, so I put the $2000 down, applied, got accepted, and went through. Been a hell of a ride for only four years. I've enjoyed 95% of it. :D

Boy, there's some brains in here!
Left school as soon as I could, Dental nurse, full time mum then LE, now decided to study![]()
If it wasn't for people, my job would be so much easier
Dropped out of HS during last semester, got GED then enlisted USAF. (Long story having to do with terminal illness of my mother and being the oldest of five kids.)
I have several college credits (no official degree) and well over 2k hours (actual) advanced training in LE related career field.
Now in 31st year as a sworn peace officer, retired from a city department as a sergeant after doing twenty, and currently a sergeant with a sheriff's office working on 2nd full retirement with 457k and SS.
No real desire to finish up the few hours I need for a BA as I do not see it being beneficial as I am closing in on full time retirement and play time.
I kicked myself in the butt a few times for not finishing my degree, but when I saw that my retirement check as a sergeant getting OT and Holiday Pay was more than the lieutenants were taking home, it did not make sense.
This career is not a sprint, it is a marathon.
