Business/Law Question
I live in Texas and own a company, there are only 3-4 guys who do work with me and we are general contractors. When we move large lighting/sound equipment we must pull over into precarious positions and park in loading zones which sometime double as sidewalks or walkways (it is the dumbest thing I have ever seen). Right now we leave our amber colored strobes off during travel (when hauling equipment we would like to use them but don't) and we of course by SOP we'll turn them on when we are pulling into a loading zone or off to the side of a road with equipment. If this is illegal in texas we can uninstall the lighting (it's simple LED decks), however when we read to TX Trans. code we gathered that ambers and amber/clears are ok (although we are amber only right now).
My 2 questions are:
1. Can we run ambers when the vehicle is in motion so long as we are moving any of our larger scale equipment?
2. Is it illegal to use them period, pulled over, parked in loading zones, etc.?
We respect the law and the officers who enforce it so we want to make sure that we are understanding the transport code correctly.
Thank you so much,
Jon
