    Should this be legal??

I am a very opinionated person so maybe i am wrong in thinking that this shouldnt be allowed....

Today our lit class went to the library to do some research. My friend was looking up books on the proof that God does exist. He came across a group of books on athiesm and then while we were searching we discovered.... in our school library there are 3 books on how to become a terrorist.... one on how to act like a terrorist. the second on how to become and be a terrorist and the third is how to get others to join you.... shouldnt books like this be banned from schools.... and libraries..... would i be wrong in asking my principal to have these books removed?

First and foremost, if you are going to your school library to find out proof that God is real, you will never find the answer. In fact in most schools, the Bible and every bit of conversation about Christianity has been put on the ban list, but every other religion can have their just say. You can go and find books on Muslim, Aethist, Buddhism, and everything else except any books on Christianity.

Instead of asking your principal to remove the terrorist books, which should be a no brainer, you should be asking your school prinicipal to put books on Christianity and the Bible back in the school.

But America is fighting terrorism but allowing books like this into the public. That doesnt make sense to me. But you are correct and I thank you for your advice.... My only thing is that when people complain about Christian books affending people they will be automatically removed.... I would gladly donate Christian books, but I dont believe that they will be accepted.

I'm not too worried about the terrorist books. Most of them will end up like Achmed the dead terrorist...you only have one shot at it. :p

As to finding out about God, why don't you put down the Ipod, get off the computer, turn off the cellphone and the TV, and take a walk outside. Look around. You will see His hand in everything that nature has to offer. You can take a handful of nothing and a handful of nothing, throw them together, and STILL have nothing. But it takes intelligence to proffer Picasso, Michelangelo, Bach, and Van Gogh. And it takes further intelligence and vision to differentiate human and gorrilla DNA by 2%, yet humans are the only species to create the masterpieces above.

If you are looking for a relationship, answer the door...He's been knocking your entire life.

Thank you very much but I am already a believer. I'm sorry I should have clarified earlier. We have projects as seniors that we have to do and my friend's topic is The Existance of God. Mine is the Investigative Process of a police officer. That is how i stumbled upon this site. Looking for questions to ask my mentor during our interview. but I am thankful that you would tell a stranger about God's mighty gentle hand.

With the Internet, it really doesn't matter what's in books. Just about everyone has access to it and there is an unlimited amount of information on how to build bombs, etc.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

I guess if I were you, this is what I would do.

First I would look to see if the library has a copy of the Holy Bible. (I would almost gurantee that it does not.)

Then I would go to the principle and ask him why you could not find a copy of the Bible but you could find 3 books on how to be a terrorist and what he thinks he should do about it. Most likely he has no idea what is in the library and if he has any common sense he will remove them.

If he does nothing or gets an attitude, call the local media and report to them the facts. If it's a slow news day, they will grab it and run with it. Given you won't make any friends with the school administration, but most of them are so far out in left field they don't have a clue anyway.

    Have Fun!

I think it was Voltaire who said something like "I may not agree with what you say, but I will fight to the death for your right to say it." That's one of the things that makes the United States great - everyone has the right (despite what some liberals seem to think) to freedom of speech (among other things). Try saying what you think in some other countries and see what happens.

I agree that books such as The Anarchists Cookbook, Improvised Munitions, etc. should be a bit more difficult for the bored follower of Bill Ayers to get into... they are easy enough to find when you are looking for them... but I'd rather they specifically have to find what they are looking for than to stumble across a manual for a JackAss Movie and get ideas they didn't have previously.

I don't think they should be banned by any means, but at least allow them to be in the same category as Porn.

I got my Cookbook and a few others from a LEO catalog a dozen years ago...

Now hold the phone.... the poster was asking about materials available in a school library, although he didn't specify what level school.

I absolutely believe some material is inappropriate for school libraries. Would you want your fourteen year old checking out a book of photography by Robert Mapplethorpe?

Yes, that's an extreme example... but so is your Nazi Germany comparison.
