Unhappy Want to return stolen car. Not sure how.

Ok...this is gonna sound bad...well it is pretty bad...but I'm trying to fix it...but I'm not really sure how. My bf stole a car and I told him he was crazy and he had to return it...but I don't know how to go about it. It's in his garage right now...I don't know if he can just drive it back and leave it where he found it (a parking lot) or leave it somewhere and call the police and tell them where to find it? Of course he doesn't want to get caught. Things are more complicated too because he says he found drugs and a lot of money inside the car...he says he already spent some of the money...and he wouldn't really say if he took any of the drugs...so I guess he did. If he returns the car with all the drugs in it and he's caught...will he be charged with possession in addition to theft? Is he better off taking the drugs out? I don't want anything to do with any of it...but I know too much already. Do you have any advice on how to fix this mess? Thanks in advance!!!

Even if he doesnt get caught by the police I guarentee the drug dealer he stole the car from will find him. Hes probably safer in prison:rolleyes:

    Yes.

Yes I do. Find a new boyfriend right now.

And closely reexamine the direction of your life.

I can't leave him because he's really possessing...and I think I'm pregnant...not sure yet. Yeah, I was worried about that drug dealer too...so maybe we should just get rid of the car...like in a lake or something... are the fingerprints gonna wash off? But even if it belongs to a drug dealer he still should get it back, right? That parking lot is pretty close to the police station so that would be kinda risky. Is there any good way of doing this? I just want to get this done and over with.:(

Are you seriously asking a bunch of cops how to destroy evidence of your boyfriend's crime?

    Seriously?

You wanted advice and you got it. If you stick with a possessive car thief for a boyfriend, you will wind up a victim of domestic violence if one or both of you don't go to prison.

    No. :(

What I'm asking is for a way to do the right thing...somehow return the car and money and drugs to the owner...without winding up in jail. There's gotta be something inbetween turning himself in or just dumping the car. This is a serious question...I don't know how to accomplish this. And I can't leave him...because we live together...and I can't afford my own place.

    *sigh*

No one can fix your life for you over the internet.

The RIGHT thing to do is to call the police and tell them that you know where a stolen car is and who took it. But doing the right thing has consequences that you don't want to face. There is no clean way out of your situation with no consequences, which is what you are really looking for.

And if I found myself magically living with a controlling, drug using car thief, I'd be out the door even if I couldn't afford my own place. My parents have a couch, as do many of my good friends.

You always have a choice to make; choosing not to act doesn't mean that there is nothing you COULD have done.

Wouldn't I still somehow get in trouble...for not saying anything earlier...or because technically I was in possession of the drugs? What if he decides to throw me under the bus and claims *I* stole the car or took the money?

    Yes...that's what I was hoping for... :(

My father is in prison...and I don't even know where my mother is. Pretty much all my friends are his friends...so that's not an option. I have some friends in another state...but I can't see myself going back there. This is messed up. I hate my life and I feel like puking. :(

I asked how to return stolen property...I'm sorry my thoughts are all over the place...it's not like this happens to me every day. I'm sorry if some of my questions were out of line...I'm just confused... :(

Things aren't that easy. If I rat him out...then I have nowhere to go. I'm 19...he's much older...and I totally depend on him for pretty much everything since I was 16...I never got to finish high school...work a min wage job. There's really only one other way for me to make good money...and I don't want to never ever go there...because that's what my mother did...and she disappeered on me. I'm NOT a thug...I haven't done anything illegal in my life...and I want to keep it that way. Bash me all you want...but I'm not a criminal...and I sure as hell didn't come to a cop site asking how to comitt crimes. It's easy to comitt crimes...I can learn from my bf...it's doing the right thing that's hard. I just thought that maybe someone could tell me what options people have to (safely) return something stolen. Geez...you can drop babies off at the police station with no questions asked...but not a gd car? And yeah...if I'm pregnant that's probably what I'm gonna do...I have a thug father...so I know what it's like...
