Red light cameras & Emergency Vehicles.

Today as I was out and about came upon a red light, this particular intersection is probably the busiest intersection in my town and it is covered with red light cameras.

I was the first car stopped in a 4 lane intersection and was in the middle lane, as the light was red other cars packed the intersection as normal, with in a few seconds I had 3 cars behind me in each lane.

The light was dead red and only had been red for like a thirty seconds when I hear emergency vehicles, as I look behind me I see a police car with its emergency lights and sirens on, behind him was 2 fire trucks with their emergency lights and sirens on as well.

I could not go to the left or right because I had no room, the other cars to the left and right were in the same predicament, we all had no place to go.

I had only one place to go and that was through the intersection while the light was red, the other cars behind me followed and that made enough room for the police car and fire trucks to get through the intersection.

I am pretty sure I am going to get a tick because I seen the flashes from the cameras, I would like to know if I have any chance of getting out of this ticket if I do get one in the mail?

    Thanks

I am not a cop and never been a cop.

FYI, and to save you the trouble of asking me if this is for a school report or research work, it is not, it's just me being curious.

I hate weddings cause old people always poke you and say, "You're next!" So I started doing that crap to them at funerals.

Intersting predicament. I would wait for the ticket , then contact someone in person , explain exactly what happened and ask them to check their pics as they should have a parade of police cars and fire trucks on camera justifying your actions.

Each photo is reviewed by a police officer who actually issues the ticket. I'm sure if there is a bunch of emergency vehicles behind you, they won't issue the ticket. If they do, (which I doubt) you will probably have to go to court to get it dismissed. A police officer isn't supposed to (and probably can't) void a ticket already issued and sent to the court.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine
