How many miles/kilometers do you drive during your shift?

I have often wondered about this...why, I have no idea.

I would imagine that an Officer with a rural department (such as a Sheriff's Office and/or State Police) may drive quite a few miles during a shift where an urban environment may equate to much fewer miles driven.

I worked in an urban/semi-urban environment and typically would log between 50 - 100 miles per shift.

    Anyway, I was just curious.

I bet you log quite a few more miles per shift these days.

Unfortunately most of my time is spent behind a desk these days or a counter explaining to people why I'm not letting them into the country. It would be nice to spend some time out on the road.

Not counting the miles to/from my house, I probably average about 100 miles per shift depending on how busy it is.

I probably drive 5-10 miles on a typical shift. It depends if I have to leave command and drive the 10 miles round trip to central booking, or if I remain in my precinct the whole night.

250- 300 miles per day, and that's if I never leave the district. (4.3 mil acres or 6718.75 square miles)

Got a brand new truck in September and I just rolled 15000 miles on it.

50 square mile area , but I do fly a desk so maybe 30-50 miles. Reg patrol units will do 100+ on a 12 hr shift.

I share my 08 Imp with one other Sgt and we have racked up 13,000 on it since last April.

Depends on what district I'm in. If I'm in a rural district them I average 220 miles a 8.5 hour shift. And urban district has me driving about 60-80 a shift.

Usually 90-120 on an avg. night. We work sectional and I'm in a high population area of our jurisdiction, so I don't have to drive much usually.

I average 250 - 300 per 12 hour shift, sometimes up to 450 if we start getting a lot of calls in the outer towns.
