    advice on locating

i'm 24 yrs old and try my best to be an upstanding citizen. I met an officer about 6 months ago and continually run into him (all friendly encounters not because i'm in trouble). all I know is his last name. I would like to give him my phone number but I don't want to get him in trouble. I don't know the 'rules' on dating a cop! help! he's a great guy (from what I know ) and would like to spend time time with him when he's not patrolling. any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated. do's and don't's when dating a cop...
    thank you!

My rule is DON'T date people I meet at work.

If you know his last name and what department he works for, call the station and leave him a message.

I know our Department doesn't have any rules against dating a person you meet at work as long as they recieve no special treatment in regards to the officer's work (i.e. - letting a person out of a speeding ticket and then asking them out on a date would be a serious infraction). Each department is different though.

Call the department and leave a message. You shouldn't get him in any trouble, especially since he did not initiate the action. He is just returning a phone call which is something officers do all the time.
The most important thing in conversation is to hear what isn't being said.

If you "run" into him all the time. Give him your number and tell him to call you sometime.

If he calls you then you have your answer. I don't know of any department that he would get in trouble just for accepting a phone number. However if he is with other officers, you will probably be labled a badge bunny. :D
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"
