I know i've asked alot of questions but i'm getting into this field and i wanna know what i'm getting into. I have a question about the SWAT team and how difficult it is to get into it? Do you have to work as a street cop for so long to even be considered? Or do you have to know the right people?

You must be a 5 year patrolman here, then you must wait till there is an opening, interview for the spot, pass a rigorous physical agility test, medical exam, and firearms qualificiation then maybe then you can be swat

Generally, there is a time requirement. You need to prove yorself on your job before you can ask for extra duties.

Our Department requires a minimum of three years of patrol. To get into SERT (Special Emergency Reponse Team), you need to do the usual physical testing and shooting (including various positions, shooting while moving, etc.) but also need to be able to do well on memory tests and perform specific activities in stressful environments (up on a water tower, in a small crawl space while being gassed without a mask, etc.).
The most important thing in conversation is to hear what isn't being said.
