Hey i have a hobby, I'm doing MMA Mixed Martial Arts. And i plan on going to the academy soon. Do you guys have any rules against that? Its like a sport to me but some people think only crazy people do it. Just curious and wondering what your thoughts were.

I doubt there is a rule, but if you get injured, it's on your dime. I would suspect that if you continually came to work with busted lips and/or black eyes it would cause problems.

No kidding??? If we get injured and not on the clock, it's ours. Heart attacks, pneumonia, hernias and TB are considered work related no matter when or where you get them. But if you pull your back out at the gym or injure a knee running off duty, it's not covered. Originally Posted by Switchback

I do know one guy who broke his arm at home, waited until he got to work, changed into his uniform, went through roll call and then went out to his car. He carefully laid down and started screaming that he fell in the parking lot. I am a fit instructor for us and as long as the injury is a result of an approved fit activity, it falls within our workamn's comp guidelines. This is a direct result of having MANDATORY fit tests and having to stay in shape for said tests.
