So here's the question... I was recently employed by a couple that was running an illegal breeding operation. I quit my legit job to go work there, not knowing the illegal activity that was taking place, such as animal neglect. I recently resigned. I left them a letter at their home that said I could not work there due to the illegal activity that was taking place, and how it was against my personal moral convictions. Being that I quit another job for it not knowing the illegal activity going on there, and being that it is the holidays, I requested 3,000 dollars from them, as what I considered to be fair reimbursment for being lied to and now being jobless. It covers a few months worth of pay. I never said in the letter that they had to give it to me or I was going to turn them in. I made no demands at all. I simply asked for money for the holidays. They are now threatening to go to the police and saying that it was blackmail. Is that grounds for police to make an arrest? And was that letter blackmail? I had no intention of blackmail, and, again, made no demands whatsoever or threats. Let me know. Thanks.
