I am thinking of tinting my headlights to give it a better look, however I'm not sure if it's illegal or not. Does anyone know?

It would help to know where you live first.
However, it never made sense to me to willing cut down the effectiveness of your head lights because it would "look cool". I'm sure the accident would look cool also!
Without knowing where you live I'm going to say it's illegal. It may look cool but it's dangerous. By tinting your headlights you cut your visibility.

why don't you just drive around wearing your sunglasses??
It has the same effect of reducing your visibility and you can save not only the price of the tint but the cost of the ticket I would surely give you! :D:cool:

In PA, you may NOT impair or obscure any lamp on your vehicle. PERIOD. $108 fine.
No tinted headlight tail light or marker light covers. Same with tinted license plate covers. Why would you want to reduce the output of your headlights and or make it harder to see any other lights/turnsignals ??
