You have asthma? I know you can't join the military if you have asthma and I am wondering if its the same with LE

Probably depends on the severity. If you constantly have to use an emergency inhaler, it might cause you problems. I have asthma, but I found that if I worked out and stayed in good shape, it didn't cause me any problems.

A lot is going to depend on type as well as severity. Exercise-induced asthma is going to be looked a a lot more closely than say, asthma caused by pet allergies.

I would add to this that my PD would want a sign from an MD that your asthma will not be an issue for the PT requirements. If you can control it, fine. If not... Originally Posted by TX-LEO

The exercise induced is what I have. That's why I always had to continually work out to overcome it. It can be done, but you have to push yourself past it and then stay in shape. Originally Posted by Johninaustin

I have asthma and it didnt cuase me any problems.. just have to keep myself in good shape and avoid getting throat infections.

You can join the military as well, depending on the severity, I'm fairly sure.
I was turned down by the Air Force because of it, but damn near went into the USMC when I got impatient to get into LE before I was 21.
