I think you should stick with what you know while you go to school to be an EMT.
You can't get hired as an EMT and then learn it on the job.
It sounds like you are assuming that you will be hired as an EMT over people who are more qualified and already are.
Because one simply applies, does not mean one will get. You don't have a "right" to any job.
My Inalienable Rights were given to me by God and NOT by the Government.

My bad, I thought EMT was on-the-job training but I'm guessing they probably have a kind of academy as well right?
I apologize if I came off that way, I don't feel that way at all but thanks for reminding me that getting the job isn't a guarantee.
I understand what you are saying, but I never said I had a right to any job...
In the Phoenix, AZ area the community colleges offer a Basic EMT course. It is 7 credits and a full semester long. You are responsible for purchasing your own stethoscope and were responsible (I haven't looked at it in a while) for 2 days volunteer work at a hospital. At the end of the course is a state level test you must pass to become an EMT.
You're allowed to have a life, you know. I read it in a manual somewhere. - Eugene Matuzak - Timecop
Thanks for the insight into the EMT training Sierra.
