Unhappy can I show an officer drug paraphernalia?

I wanted to know if I were able to show a police officer a pipe to see if they could tell what drug it was used for. I was looking at pictures on google and I think it might be meth.

I am a worried sister, who is the guardian of my 18 year old brother. Our parents are not around anymore so I am "in charge". I know my brother smokes cigarettes and drinks, and I know he has smoked marijuana several times. I found 2 pipes today made out of pens. One had the bottom of a light bulb on the top of the pen and the other had aluminum foil on the top with ashes/something burnt at the bottom the the aluminum foil dish.

I'm freaking out and I would like to go down to the police station but am worried I will be arrested for possession or something of that kind.

Call one to respond to the house to come and confiscate it. I do not suggest carrying it in your car to a police station. If you get stopped on the way, you will be charged with possession. And there is no telling if you'd be charged once you got to the police station. Call them, and have one come to your house to confiscate it.

Since he is 18, i'd look at either confronting him with it and telling him to either clean up, or get out. By him staying in the house with drugs, you are exposing yourself to a lot of trouble.

    resolved

I called the non-emergency line for my township they sent an officer over. The officer said it definitely some sort of drug paraphernalia, but he wasn't able to specify if it was meth, crack, etc. and said there was no way to find out. I confronted my brother who was in complete denial, claiming it was a cat toy?! Now I just need to figure out what to do about all this.

If it's being used to smoke drugs there should be enough residue in it to test and see which drug it is.

That said, why does it matter what drug it is? Tell him to stop the illegal behavior (including the underage drinking and smoking marijuana) or else move out on his own. If drugs are found in the house he shares with you, you could be held legally responsible along with him. This is especially true now that you have been told by a police officer that he is possessing drug paraphernalia in the house.

Thats what I thought also(about the residue). But the officer said he wont be able to test it.

My brother is a great manipulator. I have acknowledged and regretfully not done anything about his drinking. I had chose to completely ignore it because I felt as though it was not out of control (even though it is illegal, and he drinks every night).

As for smoking pot, he told me he has only tried a few times, and never in our home. I found what I thought to be a half used marijuana joint a few months ago and he first said that is was a cigarette he rolled himself, then he said it was a Capone, which I believe is a cigar. I am still convinced it was pot.

This is a hard situation as I am his 20 years old sister. I do not have legal control over him and yes I could possibly kick him out of the house but I don't have the courage to. I am so worn down, i'm too young to be parenting my 18 year old brother.

    another question

I know there are at-home drug tests in drug stores, which are urine test I believe. But are their blood tests? Such as maybe a prick on the finger?

Are urine test actually that accurate? Would a urine test be able to test most drugs or at least marijuana and cocaine? I suppose it isn't all that important to know which drug he is using, but if he is doing meth I will be much more concerned and do my best to have him caught and be forced to seek help such as rehab.

Don't waste your money on drug tests, you already know he's doing drugs. The type does not really matter, it's quite possible he's using more than one.

If you are the one on the lease go before a judge and have him evicted. He's a legal adult.

Where there is smoke, there's fire. Boot him out before he burns down your ship. You have acknowledged that he is a great manipulator, which means he is a liar and ANYTHING he tells you from this point on, is a lie.

You are not doing him any good by condoning ANY of his illegal actions, including under aged drinking.

    Kick Him.

I see no value in idle threats to evict him.

The only response you will be assured of until you evict him is his continuing to do the same, illegal things that you don't want to hold the bag for.

Just in case you missed it... Kick Him.

    Stop enabling him.

    Kick Him.
