Any California Police Officers on here to help me?

    Hey guys,

My name is Alex. I currently want to start the process of becoming a police officer. I am going to work soon at a security company known as Nordic. This company has patrol cars and patrols private property and businesses. My question is if I encounter a dangerous individual that commits a crime am I okay to place them in handcuffs for my safety and theirs as a security guard?

Also since I am going to start this job I was wondering if theirs any random items I need to have in my patrol car or on my belt that could be useful on the job other than the obvious. Thanks!

Whether you can legally do this or not is pretty much a moot point. It will all come down to what your company's policy is. Some companies allow their employees to go hands-on and others don't want their security guys doing that under any condition. Check what your company policy is and, most importantly, if you ever encounter a "dangerous" individual....call the police.

Again, check with your company. They should provide you with everything you need to do your job. But as for useful, water and some snacks would be a good idea.
