I am a senior in high school and I am hoping to become a police officer. I live in NJ but I do not plan on staying here after community college. I want to go to either, NYC or LA. NYPD is becoming more and more competitve since the salary raise and im sure there will be many other people with better resumes and backgrounds then me.
Anyway, I have worked in a grocery store for about two years, volunteered at my church many times, may be volunteering at PAL and/or Mat rats. I haven't done the greatest in school. I have had mostly c's and b's my sophmore and freshman year and c's b's and a's my junior year, now I have a's and b's. My uncle is a detective in Vermont so im also thinking about there but I want a place with more action. I don't want to be giving tickets all day and that's it. My neighbors cousins work for the NYPD in Queens and Brooklyn but I don't if they could help. I looked at the requierments in both places already and I am taking the NYPD exam in Oct. to see how I do. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what my chances might be based on my life thus far.
Thankyou for your time.
