    College Student

I am just starting college. My goal is to enter the police academy in four years after I graduate and then eventually become a detective. I've been reading about the requirements, but I was wondering if the fact that I am female and wear glasses will hold me back?</b>

You'll have to look into the corrective lens limits of your prospective agencies. They vary. You'll be on patrol a good number of years before even thinking about making a detective slot.

What does the "Det" in your username mean? Is that a shortening of Detective?

You might want to reregister with a new user name. The mods here get cranky about people who are not LEO's currently having names that imply that they are.

Neither your sex nor your eyesight (provided it meets the minimums for the department you apply at) will hold you back from promotion/transfer to an investigative position.
