dq'd for failing polygraph

hey whats going on everyone.
i just have a quick ?.....i was in the hiring process w/a police department n upstate ny, but was dq'd for failing the polygraph. the ? i failed was, "did you lie about any of your past drug history?"...i said no, but the polygraph read deception. in all honesty,i was completely truthful. i never sold drugs and smoked marijuana once, but i think wut tripped me up was that fact that i have an older bro who sells................but anyways, i just wntd to give a lil background of my sit. and my ? is would this dq also dq me from the process with the nypd....jan 09 hopeful (i'm going to take my letter telling my reason for being dq'd w/me when i go for processing)

any feedback would b much appreciated, thanks a lot

I dont think there is one person here who hasn't failed some part of an application process. If you were truthful, chalk it up and move on. If you were not, be truthful next time. I failed my first psych eval I took. I still wonder sometimes if i'm nuts.

Were you asked during your background investigation if you associated with people who used or sold drugs? That was a question in my background. If you were asked that question and left out the part about your brother, that's why the test showed deception.

Unfortunately, you can pick your friends, but not your family. Could your knowledge of your brothers activity cause you to fail...possibly. Did you advise them on your brothers actvity, prior to the test? You have to understand, they probably have a dozen more applicants, who have spotless backgrounds and polys, so they took a pass on you.

Personally I despise polygraphs. I took one in the private sector once after a theft at the company I was working for. I passed, but it still didn't stop them from quizing me like I held back some information. Very demeaning IMHO. I vowed never to submit to one ever again and I never have had too.

yes i did inform them on my bro's activities....actually when i went in to meet with my bi, he already had pic of my bro at hand due to the fact that my bro has been arrested b4 on similar drug charges.....and no i dont associate w/ppl who deal n drugs, but like a previous post said, i can't pick my family, and im nothing like my brother NOTHING LIKE HIM...i can't stres it enough

I can tell that your caps lock key works, because you choose to randomly capitalize things....however, you never start a sentence with a capital letter. Also apparently you choose not to proofread your posts and correct your atrocious grammar. If you expect to be treated like a professional on this board, start acting like one. We have high standards for potential LEO candidates.
