    Question Making Deliveries

My boss got a ticket today. He was making a delivery. I told him he should have a sign in his car window. We are a prosthetic company and he was delivering an artificial limb. This can take time because it has to be fitted and possibly may need an adjustment. Do we need a special permit for such a sign? I planned on making him a sign with our company name, address and phone but don't want to do this without being sure of the proper procedures.
    Thanks!

Was it a speeding ticket, red light, parking or something else?

A written sign with a company name doesn't make it legal to break the law. I would try the permit.
But Officer, I didn't think pretty ladies recieved citations!!!! They don't lady, please sign here and press hard, it's four copies

You can make any sign you want, meter maids have no mercy and no common sense.

I got a $3 ticket slapped right next to my 'federal agent, official business' sign.

At least it wasn't towed. NYPD Internal Affairs has been towing cars with city issued Law Enforcement Parking Permits for "parking illegally". God forbid IAB goes after the bad cops that are actually on the job instead of the hard-working cops who "park illegally".

You didnt describe what kind of vehicle it is but with a small delivery like a prosthesis , why did he NEED to park illegally ? Could he have parked legally somewhere nearby ?

And if someone hits your illegally parked delivery vehicle , the other driver may be mostly at fault but your boss would be indicated as having parked illegally and the insurance will start reducing the amount of damage they will pay for.

Per a consultant source that I have in the delivery biz....a marked ( professionally) delivery vehicle can make a difference on whether an officer decides to ticket or not.

Throw in some GOOD attitude should you find yourself perilously close to getting a ticket and that too may go a long way.

The only delivery guy I have ever cited is some idiot who thought it was necessary to park in the middle of the alley and block all vehicular access. I sat there for about 10 minutes, used my PA to ask for someone to move the vehicle, then took the time to write the cite and the guy still didn't show up. It wasn't until I had cited the vehicle that the driver miraculously appeared.. then got an attitude and asked what I was going to do next time he parked there....
I told him to try it the next day and find out how long it would take me to get a tow truck out there.... never saw that truck there again.

A semi blocking a roadway to unload pallets is one thing, but why exactly do you need to park illegally while delivering an artificial limb? Unless it's an artificial leg for an elephant, you should be able to carry it from the van to the delivery location from a regular parking space without any problem.

If the person comes out with any sort of apology or decency at all, I don't give them the ticket. I basically only ticket cars where the person doesn't come out before I'm done, or people that want to give me attitude.
