Do you like conducting traffic stops?

ok, now I know that each officer is different when it comes to what they like to do more of when on patrol. You have some officers that are more proactive than others and depending on how your department is ran, maybe there isnt a huge push for conducting traffic stops. So Im wondering are you the type or know an officer, that doesnt really like conducting traffic stops and because of that hardly does so. If so what is the reasoning for not liking to conduct traffic stops

I love traffic stops. I will stop you for anything and everything. I'm nosey and want to know who you are, where your coming from and where your going. You'll be amazed what you find when you pull someone for the smallest violation. ;)

I neither like nor dislike traffic stops. I do them because that's what I do. If I see a violation, I stop for it.

Bingo. I don't do them anymore working investigations, but I loved doing them before. I was never one to like writing tickets, but doing a traffic stop can lead to things you'd never uncover otherwise.

In the UK traffic stops have led to some of my best arrests.

When you stop a car for a defective brake light or for speeding you never know what or who you'll come across inside. I've had numerous arrests for drug possession and supply from traffic stops.

I also find them a very effective way of targetting and disrupting criminals. Prosecutions for driving offences lead to driving disqualifications which in theory mean our prolific offenders are denied the use of roads. Of course they often continue to drive which means arrest and conviction for disqualified driving which carries a prison sentence!

I enjoyed doing traffic and wrote a lot of tickets and let a lot of people go with an easy citation, instead of hammering them. I was almost never in court for any of my citations. My SGT threw me under the bus to a person I wrote a citation to because he didn't read the statute I wrote the person for violating. The SGT told the violator it was a bad citation, so I quit writing fines for the city and unless the person had a radar detector I wrote warnings only. The SGT was a little peeved when he questioned me about writing 200 warnings per month and was advised that without the backing of the department (him) I would not write a fine (I had already given my resignation letter for other reasons).
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

Translation for the intellectually challenged: If the government screws the people too much, it is the right and duty of the people to revolt and form a new government.
