Doing research on ethics in law enforcement for a class. I need to interview a couple of officers either face to face or via phone. My question is what is the best way to go about setting this up. I do not personally know any officers and those who I have gone up to do not feel obliged to speak on this topic and direct me to go to their station. I did do that and now I am directed to someone who directs me to another and so on....I explain I am a CJ student, a class in Ethics in Policing. I have even gotten comments such as "I have never heard of such a thing" which puzzles me.
Anyone here who might be interested in assisting?

So sorry, I am in Northern Illinois and willing to travel within reason 2 to 3 hours but again talking via phone is an option too.

You may wish to speak with the officer or supervisor in charge of the local department's training. If they can't or are unwilling to help you, they may at least be able to steer you in a good direction to someone who can.

Most large agencies have a community relations or public information office. Try speaking to an officer in one of these areas.
