ONTARIO CANADA - Impersonating an Undercover Officer

Situation:

I recently was approached by an individual at a bar/club accusing me of pickpocketing them. The individual stated that they were an undercover officer and needed to search my purse. I obviously refused.

If I brought this to the attention of an officer at the bar/club, how might the situation be dealt with.

Impersonating an officer in Canada is a summary conviction offence. How it's dealt with is up to the officer on the scene, the rest of your story and the other person's story. If he/she just told you they were an under cover officer there isn't enough to charge.

Now if they displayed a badge or another identifying article......

I doubt if he was undercover that he would have approached you and identified himself as such. You did the right thing refusing.
