    Employment Tips Wanted!

Ok, first of all I'm a 22 year old college senior attending Lake Superior State University in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. I'm 5'8 and would consider myself to be in well above average shape (considering I work out nearly everyday). I have applied and taken tests at both Madison, Wisconsin and Appleton, Wisconsin police departments when I was 21 and did not get chosen. Considering the fact that I am 22 years old now, within one year of becoming a certified police officer, and willing to travel around the country what are some tips that I can keep in mind while I apply and test with different departments around the country?

What specific attributes do you have that make you a good candidate ?

Why should we hire you over the next guy in line ?

Keep the alcohol use ( and it's accompanying issues ) to a minimum.

What will your neighbors say about you to a background investigator ?

    Employers ?

Did they tell you what area you were weak? Did you score poorly on the written and oral or did you do well there and have problems with background or medical?

No one can help you unless you're more specific as to why you didn't get hired.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Yes, why didn't you get chosen by those departments? If you have background issues, they aren't going to be disappearing in a year's time period.

Also, if you truly believe you are within one year of becoming an officer, you better start applying now. The hiring process at many departments can take every bit of one year from start to finish.

You're right, I don't "know" that I am within one year of "becoming" a police officer. I do know that the odds are in my favor of being certified within the State of Michigan in June 2009 from my University. Thanks for the advice...
