I hope the deputy was uninjured. Just seeing the wreckage made my skin crawl. Speaking from experience I can almost guarantee that the rider stared at the deputies squad car the entire time and led himself to plow right into it - you are never supposed to fixate on objects or you head straight for them.

I believe one of the videos you guys posted was of Swedish "Ghost Rider" in his earlier heydays; this was before he turbo charged his GSXR 1000. Don't worry about him, he "caters" strictly to Europe.

I'm sure most guys you arrest evading the police do not have insurance or it is later revealed that the bike is stolen. Personally, I would require that the dealership run the same background check they do for firearms before selling a motorcycle. We can all agree that "runners" probably have had a past with drugs, violence, habitual traffic violator, larceny etc...

Not necessarily. One of mine started the incident by pulling up on my left side on the freeway. He looked over and nodded at me (no helmet) before lifting the front wheel and taking off. Speeds went up to 128 over a 2.5 mile stretch before I called the chase off.

I was waiting at his house when he got home. His BAC was .06. Fully licensed and insured and the bike paid for. He was an EMT with a local ambulance service, making fair money. He was also on the hiring list for the big PD in my area. So much for that. 18 months initial confinement, state prison. 5 years Ext supervision.
