Newp. Never had any use for a pocket knife. I have a real nice bench made auto, but I cant get myself to carry a 150$ knife that I might drop accidentally in a pile of someones guts at a motor vehicle crash.

I should probably have a window punch though, and those usually come with a knife

In that case, IMO, what you should be concerned with is learning/knowing Your force policy(ies) inside and out - especially deadly force, knowing Your department's edged tool/knife policy(ies) inside and out, knowing what You are authorized to carry, ETC.

IF your department gives you leeway to carry different types of edged tools and you can't make up your own mind, THEN you might want to find out what other LEOs carry and why (which has been discussed a few times before here on RP).

IF you get some time on and are ever in a position where you can create/change policy and would like to change your department's force/knife policies (etal), THEN you might want to find out what other types of force/knife policies are out there (from different departments) - after you become verified.

At the stage you're in, what/why you're asking in your original post doesn't make much sense to me I guess... :confused:
