How many times late at night do you guys flick your lights on to drive through a red light and flick them back off once you're past it and mosey on along.
I've seen it two or three times and I must say I'm quite jealous.

I don't know what species of bug is up your wha-zoo for the cops, but your choice of questions and how you word them leaves alot to be desired.
You're beginning to wear out your welcome.
I liked citicops response a lot better. I was about to edit in and ask if this could have been due to running to a call "silently" but flicked the lights for intersections.
I'll heed your last sentence however. I don't believe I was ever welcomed here regardless of intention.
When I get paid by the hour and really have nowhere to be, why would I risk getting in a wreck along with losing my job just to get through an intersection faster at night?
When it comes down to the basics, if I were to get caught engaging in that sort of behavior, I would be disciplined. If I were to get into a wreck, the department would not back me because I was doing something not only outside of policy, but illegal. I would then be civilly and criminally liable for any damage or injuries that happened, and it would all be out of my own pocket. I would also be fired.
Sometimes things aren't as they appear- I have rolled lights and siren opposite direction through an intersection for a call, only to be cancelled half a block later. Department policy says I will turn off my lights and then abide by the rules of the road. However, all the cars behind me just saw me blow through and intersection, then turn off my lights and start driving slowly. Doesn't look good, however, it's exactly what I was supposed to do. If I stopped at the Starbucks a block later you can bet that those drivers would be calling into IA to complain about how I blew through an intersection just to get a cup of coffee.
I'd say something about putting some faith in the integrity of the police, but you will believe whatever you want so I wont waste the pixels.

Lights on going to a job and turned off when hitting green lights. Making turns where nobody would let you cross, lights go on. Being held to time constraints lights go on.
This thread serves no purpose to anyone, so I'm just going to end it here.
