That was my point. Don't assume you have ROW unless it's given to you. Regardless of what the TC says, don't be an idiot.
Someone turning at an intersection shall yield to other traffic, especially turning left. Too many people think they have ROW because their vehicle is bigger, or they are in MORE of a hurry.

One of my favorite traffic law and attitude demonstrations is to draw a 4 way intersection with all stop signs and put two cars at the intersection. I then ask who has the right of way. In Texas, no matter which car they point to they are wrong. No one here is granted the ROW. Texas law states when a person must YIELD the ROW, but never gives an operator a right over another operator.

I agree with that scenario. My problem was that it appear some were saying that the vehicle turning left always had to yield to every vehicle approaching the stop sign from the other side. If the two vehicles arrive at anywhere near the same time, the vehicle going straight naturally should have the right of way. But after that, the vehicle turning left should be able to go even if another car approaches the opposite stop sign.... However, if the vehicle turning left has been sitting there for some time and another vehicle approaches from the opposite side, it seems to me the turning vehicle should be able to go first since tradition (if not the law) is that vehicles enter the intersection in the order they arrived.

For Illinois it's alway been first come first serve. At least in all my time on the road. My problem for those that say they wait for the second vehicle to go straight is how do you know they are going straight? A lot of people don't use their turn signal.
